With the help from friends and well wishers, FONNJ has made an effort to make access to education easier for a certain number of Nepali children. Additionally, our organization is also involved in other programs such as empowering women through micro-loan project and helping a local organization in Patan to conduct a leadership development program.

      SpecialScholarships

·        With FON-NJ’s coordination, The Branchburg Rotary Club is making an annual contribution of $500 to Bal Kumari School in Sunakothi, Patan, for the benefit of 30 students. Thanks to the Branchburg Rotary Club, these 30 students now have an opportunity to work towards a bright future.

·        FON-NJ also runs the Girl Child Scholarship program. With our annual scholarship fund of $300 for the program, we are striving to ensure education to certain girl children.

·        As part of Rautaha Development Trust Scholarship Program, an annual scholarship fund of $1000 is provided to 30 regular students and 30 physically challenged students in Rautah.

In addition to awarding scholarship funds to various organizations in Nepal, FON-NJ has helped to set up individual memorial scholarship funds for the welfare of Nepali children.

      Other Projects in Nepal

·        Micro-loan Project Income Generating Program: The FON-NJ is working with Mahila Adarsha Sewa Kendra (MASK) in Kathmandu on a Micro-loan IG Program. A total of $7000 low-interest loan has been disbursed to more than 300 widows in Nepal and it is hoped it help these underprivileged women to start effective low-budget businesses in Nepal and empower them in more ways than one. MASK has been entrusted the responsibility of coordinating the program with the organizers and selecting suitable loan recipients. Members of FON-NJ will have an opportunity to visit these recipients during their visits to Nepal and assess the success and failures of the programs firsthand. The Women’s Development Committee will coordinate and raise funds for this project. If anyone is interested in being a member of this committee, please contact us and visit our website http://www.fonnj.org.

·        Leadership Development Program: FON-NJ has been contributing $250 every year to Rotaract Club of Patan to conduct special  Student Leadership Programs in Nepal. We believe that this program helps young students to build leadership qualities.

·        Medical Center Support: We also support a medical center in Patan to provide basic health check- ups to the locals.
